Meet Violla from Malawi
Growing up as a child in Malawi, we all had dreams for the future. Almost everyone wanted to be pilots, lawyers and doctors. I dreamt of becoming a surgeon. I remember standing tall in class declaring what I wanted to be when I grow up.
Time went by, my understanding of the industry changed. That's how my dream changed from wanting to be a doctor to become a computer scientist.
“In the course of realising my dreams, I have met people who have inspired me to believe more in my dreams and some who have demotivated me that it is impossible to achieve my dreams.”
In order for one to achieve ones dreams, one needs a proper plan. Just like any person, I have set number of goals and priorities that I follow on a daily basis. I work towards improving myself, my skills and developing my talents.
I have made behavioral and habitual changes to several things that would have hindered the process of achieving my dreams.
In the course of realizing my dreams, I have met people who have inspired me to believe more in my dreams and some who have demotivated me that it is impossible to achieve my dreams.
I had an opportunity to meet one of my biggest inspirations, Racheal Sibande. Through her life story she made me believe that it is possible to excel as a woman in the world of computers. Like everyone else who is leaving a mark in the digital world, had dreams of how they see themselves in the future, I also have dreams.
When I picture myself ten years from now, I see a lot of growth and goals achieved. I see a young woman who has made a technological impact in Malawi. I also see Malawi with a lot of young men and women making strides in the digital world. I dream of running a successful firm that will help Malawi solve IT related issues.
